Outdoor Recreation
Surrounded by the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico, miles of sugar-white sandy beaches and the perfect climate for a variety of year-round outdoor activities, Tyndall’s outdoor recreation program, part of the 325th Services Squadron, offers activities and programs permanent party and temporary duty members and their families are sure to enjoy.
Bonita Bay Outdoor Recreation Complex

Bonita Bay provides the water sports so often associated with the area, but the recreation complex also provides trips and tours to areas of natural, historic or recreational interest; special functions; and a wide variety of instructional classes to promote safety in outdoor recreation.
Outdoor Recreation offers several facilities. Boaters can enjoy a large marina with boat rentals and equipment checkout for those who pass a water safety class; families or groups can enjoy the picnic areas with pavilions and playgrounds; and several other services, such as a sailing facility that offers sailing and windsurfing classes, launching ramps, a pool, one beach, one lake, a ropes course, a paintball field, an archery range and a skeet and trap range.

virtually unlimited outdoor-recreation possibilities for the entire family. A free outdoor adventure club offers an array of outdoor programs such as camping, biking, canoeing, hiking, spelunking, kayaking, white water rafting, sailing, water and snow skiing, and mountain and rock climbing. Programs include instructional classes for all levels of skills, aquatic fitness, trips and tours.

The outdoor recreation equipment rental program is designed to provide recreation equipment and supplies for the off-duty enjoyment of military personnel, retirees and their family members, as well as DoD civilian employees.
A wide variety of equipment is offered for rent, such as camping, hiking, water sports, and lawn and garden equipment, tables and chairs, and most items are quality brand names. In addition, a moonwalk and Tiger jumping apparatus is available for parties and special occasions. (^top of section)
Beacon Beach Marina Club

The Tyndall area offers some of the best water recreation in the state. The Beacon Beach Marina is located adjacent to the Wood Manor housing area on St. Andrews Bay. The club’s location offers a beautiful view of the bay and Shell Island. Wet slips and dry boat storage may be rented at the marina.
Additionally, area waters offer beautiful diving opportunities, and a very active dive club is associated with the marina. Florida law requires a person be a certified diver to have scuba tanks filled in the state. Certified scuba diving courses are available in the local area. FamCamp

Tyndall’s FamCamp is located on base and open year-round with the following facilities: 3,200-square-feet recreation facility with a full kitchen, fireplace, laundry room, rest rooms, showers and a social room; playground, picnic tables and barbecue grills; telephones and U.S. mail service; cable TV, horseshoes, pool table, wireless internet, dog park, gazebo with fire pit and a sewage dump station.
There are 68 RV sites with full hookups; 32 RV sites with partial hookups, and three cottages and some overflow parking.
Daily, weekly and monthly rates are
available. Reservations are not accepted for campsites.
Three fully furnished and equipped two-bedroom cottages are available for rent. The cottages feature central air conditioning, cable TV and accommodations for six people. Cottage reservations can be made 90 days in advance with deposit by calling the FamCamp office.
New arrivals should go directly to FamCamp and follow the registration procedure posted on the information board. The use of FamCamp is restricted to active duty and retired military, DoD civilian personnel and their family members. For more information contact the FamCamp or visit www.325fss.com.
Skeet and Trap Range

The Skeet and Trap Range is located on Beacon Beach Road and is fully equipped with modern, automatic-loading trap and
skeet machines. Three skeet and two trap fields, a resale store, reloading components, special order firearms, shooting supplies and training videos are available.
Paintball Field and Ropes Course

Located off Sabre Drive, to use the paintball course you must have an authorization card
by signing a liability waiver form at the Bonita Bay reservations office, Building 5013.
Pelican Point Golf Course

This 18-hole championship course is built on 165 acres at Redfish Point and surrounded by St. Andrews Bay. Golfers are sure to relax at the Pelican Point Golf Course “19th Hole,” which offers spectacular water views. The operation includes a well-stocked pro shop, recreational areas, a snack bar, lockers, a lighted driving range and practice facilities. The patio and back deck are wonderful places for casual functions. Facility staff will help arrange tournaments and catering.
Fees and services are graduated to encourage the participation of younger Airmen and junior officers. Quality rental equipment is available at a reasonable cost. The schedule provides for regular play, tournaments, ladies’ days, intramural play, youth and adult activities and a variety of other programs.

Fitness & Sports Center

This high-use facility has renovated locker rooms and expanded weight training and cardiovascular training areas to better support its well-developed diversified sports and fitness program. The trained fitness center staff is ready to give advice for training programs to serious and recreational athletes. Individual and team activities are conducted at both intramural and varsity levels.
The center provides programs for physical conditioning, weight lifting, badminton, volleyball, racquetball, walleyball, men’s and women’s sauna baths, Life Fitness and Strive Circuit rooms and a basketball court. It also contracts qualified instructors for exercise and aerobics classes.

Community Center

Fun, food and relaxation can be found at the Community Center in a casual but energized atmosphere. Tyndall members can spend their leisure time using one of the center’s pool tables, table tennis tables, board games, wireless internet connection or watching the big-screen TVs.
The center regularly schedules a wide variety of classes and activities such as ball room dance, salsa and guitar. Free movie nights are also offered on Thursdays. Call for current classes, dates, and showing times.
Numerous base-wide and community events are coordinated by the center in collaboration with other services squadron facilities. The center also hosts base talent shows and the Air Force Tops in Blue performances. It also becomes the operations center for various inspection teams temporarily assigned to Tyndall.
FedEx air and ground delivery service is also available within the center. The FedEx facility is open during the center’s regular hours of operation.
Additionally, the community center coordinates scheduling of spaces on the

Enlisted Lounge & Eateries

Within the Community Center, the newly renovated lounge offers a variety of activities and entertainment for all enlisted ranks and their guests. Full bar and menu service is available Wednesday through Saturday during the evening, while the room serves as a Pizza Pub during the day for all ranks. The lounge has a professional staff providing outstanding programs year round. It offers a great karaoke and entertainment program.
The Oasis Snack Bar features a diverse “fast food” menu to suit a variety of tastes. Free wireless internet access is available in both the Enlisted Lounge and Oasis Snack Bar. The Oasis Snack Bar provides Starbucks coffee. The Oasis is your place for coffee, breakfast, and lunch. Daily money-saving specials, a weekday lunchtime salad bar, weekly all-you-can-eat buffets and the friendly atmosphere keep customers coming back. The Tyndall Heritage Club is the center of social activities for club members, their families and guests, providing southern hospitality at its best. It is a membership organization open to all officers, enlisted, retirees, reservists and civilian employees. An all you-can-eat lunch buffet is served to all ranks from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Dinner is served Friday in the Checkers Lounge 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. and Saturday 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in Helene’s Café. Membership in the club also entitles one to discounts at most Air Force Services facilities. Aero Club

The mild northwest Florida climate means Tyndall Aero Club members enjoy great year-round flying. The club’s Federal Aviation Administration and Veterans Administration-accredited flight school offers a variety of courses ranging from private to airline transport pilot.
Private pilot and instrument and commercial ground schools begin the first month of every quarter with flight lessons scheduled at the student’s convenience. Courses include private pilot, instrument and commercial pilot, airline transport pilot and airplane or instrument instructor.
The aero club also offers discovery flights to
familiarize prospective students with the skills necessary to be a pilot and stocks a variety of aviation supplies for purchase.
Certified pilots who are properly checked-out in aero club aircraft can use one of the club’s planes for fully reimbursable transportation to and from a temporary duty location.
Aero club programs are available to active duty, retired military, DOD civilians and dependents. Eligible personnel may apply for tuition assistance through the base education center or the Veteran’s Administration.

Bowling Center

The Raptor Lanes Bowling Center features 12 lanes with automatic pin spotters and scoring system that has never been easier. The bowling center provides a modern and up-to-date electronic game room plus two pool tables and air hockey. Kids and parents alike will enjoy the fun atmosphere provided during Cosmic Bowling™, where the lights are off, the music is playing and the fun glows.
The snack bar, conveniently located in the bowling center, features the awesome “Raptor Burger” while Crustano’s Sandwich Crafters offers a large selection of menu items.
The Pro Shop provides bowling supplies to meet all bowlers’ needs.
The bumper system allows children of all ages to be able to enjoy the thrill of hitting the pins, verses running the gutter, and has helped make the center a favorite place for
